Grind2Energy™ – It’s all about our world and its future.

Sustainability for food waste generators is now a
viable option.

  • Since America’s first recycling plant opened in 1972, recycling has revolutionized the way we handle waste. But one challenge remained:

    food scraps.

  • In recent years, large-scale composting has helped us handle organic waste more responsibly.

  • The next step is here. Introducing Grind2Energy.

Transforming your organic waste into a clean, renewable source of energy.

Sustainability for food waste generators is now a viable option

The average commercial kitchen produces 4,000 lbs. or more of food waste a week.

Most of it ends up in landfills.

According to the U.S. EPA, each year more than 36 million tons of food waste is sent to landfills. There, food waste decomposes, releasing methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Less than 3% is ever recovered and recycled.

Hauling fees are increasing.

State and local governments are setting aggressive waste diversion goals and implementing landfill waste diversion bans. According to Waste Business Journal, hauling fees have been increasing by 7.1% every year due to these increased regulations, as well as rising fuel costs.

Sustainability is increasingly important to business success.

As regulations continue to tighten and public awareness drives business towards cleaner energy, environmental responsibility has become increasingly important to thriving businesses.

In fact, over 93% of CEOs say that sustainability is critical to their company’s future business success.

A cleaner, easier, more sustainable solution.

Grind2Energy’s innovative organic waste system decreases your contribution to landfills and helps to generate clean, renewable energy. It also helps keep your facility cleaner and more efficient.

Discover how you can make a difference.

It’s a big idea, and it all starts with your facility and Grind2Energy, the organics recycling system from InSinkErator.

Do you produce over 200 lbs. of food waste per day?

See how much your food waste adds up.

For every ton diverted from a landfill, your facility helps create:

123,970 kWh

of electrical energy
to power a single-family home

34,216 m3

of methane gas captured–
can heat a home for 2 weeks!

14.8 cars

Sustainability is now a homegrown reality for waste-generating facilities, making it perfect for:

  • Hotels
  • Hospitals
  • Sports facilities
  • Colleges and universities
  • Restaurants
  • Supermarkets
  • Reduces hauling heavy waste bins

  • Reduces odor, pest problems

  • Reduces trash pickups, disposal fees

Grind2Energy processes food waste into a premium, energy-rich material for anaerobic digestion.

  • Anaerobic digestion occurs in the absence of oxygen, a common occurrence in nature. It’s an organic process that recycles food waste.

  • Similar to the human digestion system, anaerobic digestion employs the use of microorganisms that, in the absence of oxygen, break down organic materials.

  • During the process, the microorganisms produce methane, which is captured as biogas and put to use as electricity and CNG.

  • When the microorganisms are finished, they disintegrate, and what remains of them and other organic matter are effluents, a beneficial, natural fertilizer.
